Speech on Patriotism in English for Student

Speech – 1

Respected CEO, Manager and Supervisor, Dear Colleagues and all other friends!

Today is the day when we got independence from the British and our country became an independent country in 1947. Like every year we have gathered here to celebrate Independence Day and pay tribute to all the great people who have sacrificed for our freedom and are still sacrificing their lives to ensure the security of our freedom. Huh.

I feel extremely honored to get this opportunity to deliver a speech on our patriotism. This topic is very sensitive for me because I love my country very much. We all know how many difficulties freedom fighters have faced to make India independent. Patriotic spirit and sensitivity are important for the independence of any country. A patriotic person is one who is always ready to sacrifice his life for the need and love of his country.

One of the best qualities of any person is patriotism. It is a sacred feeling of the mind. Thankfully we live in a free country instead of our great freedom fighters who achieved it after making many struggles and sacrifices. Now we don’t really have to struggle every day to survive as much as they had to do in their lives.

So remembering all the great people who have fought for our freedom, we are filled with the feeling of patriotism. Mahatma Gandhi, Shahid Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, Subhash Chandra Bose, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and many other great people worked hard till their last breath just because they wanted to see their countrymen living in harmony . It is only the actions of those great people that the world still remembers them. However, there are many anti-social elements in our society who try to malign the image of our country.

Nowadays we see in news that some section of young students of some universities speak against their country. Such people do not respect the hardships being faced by the freedom fighters and our armed forces who protect us every moment.

Patriotism can be accomplished through other means. It is not necessary that everyone should be a freedom fighter or serve the country by enlisting in the Army, Navy or Air Force. By being a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan you can show your love towards the country or you can help poor, hungry and needy people, save water, save environment etc. You can join non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

By distributing water in summer or blanket in winter as a help to the needy people, you can show your love towards mankind and thus show your true valor and patriotism. Patriotism does not only mean the struggle for the freedom of a country but it also includes the sincere feeling and true love of the country and the countrymen which can be displayed through passionate work for the development of the country.

Love your country and show it in your actions.

Thank you.

Speech – 2

Honorable Vice Chancellor, Respected Principal, Colleagues Colleagues and my dear students.

You all know that today we have organized this function to commemorate the victory and sacrifice of our freedom fighters, who fought during the freedom struggle and I have a speech on patriotism by our respected Pradhan as a senior faculty member of our XYZ Institute. has been chosen to give. On behalf of my entire staff and students of this institute, I would like to thank our respected Vice-Chancellor for giving his valuable time and registering his presence on this occasion.

As I mentioned earlier we are here to remember the great freedom fighters of our country like Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. Rajendra Prasad and many others. Huh. His contribution towards the attainment of freedom was unimaginable and it simply cannot be expressed in words. However, one thing that deserves special mention is his great patriotic fervor. When a giddiness runs through our bodies just thinking about the bondage or slavery of the British Raj and the freedom struggle, think they all faced it and fought against it. It is very difficult to understand the pain and discomfort they feel.

They all have one thing in common which makes them united for the motherland till their last breath during the freedom struggle and that is patriotism and love for their country. He firmly believed in the song “Mera Bharat Mahan”. So if you are now asked what is patriotism, how many of you are ready to answer? Maybe everyone will give! Obviously this is a simple question for you but trust me it has many subheads.

Remember that it is good to love your country and its people but that does not entitle you to hate a particular idea or ideology. It is therefore important that your patriotic fervor does not cross the line that leads you to bigotry or extremism. Remember the foundation of our country is based on the principles of tolerance and compassion.

There is no place for hatred or ill-will in patriotism. It is patriotism that inspires our country and its people to sacrifice their lives for the sake of love, so we have to spread the message of love and peace everywhere across the world. We can show our love for our country in many ways, the main one being to work for development and take effective measures to end poverty, illiteracy, child labour, violence against women and other social evils. In all these ways we can make our country a better place to live in.

Needless to say that patriotism is one of the finest qualities found in men and it is a very encouraging feeling. Patriotism in the true sense of the word for a person will be when he/she fulfills the responsibility of his/her country and continuously works towards his/her overall development. So think beyond yourself and your family and protect the national interest and spread the message of international brotherhood everywhere.

Before leaving the stage we will say “Bharat Mata ki Jai” together in a very loud and clear voice!

Thank you.

Speech – 3

Good morning everybody. We welcome you all to this grand celebration of Independence Day.

My topic of discussion today is patriotism. The word has a different meaning for each of us here. Today I will discuss my thoughts on what I mean by patriotism. A patriot is a person who wants to love and render his service to the country as a loyal citizen. A true patriot loves the country and is ready to make all kinds of sacrifices for his country. A patriotic person works solely for the welfare of the motherland. A group of such people keeps the feeling of patriotism in themselves. Patriots are those who go to war with a smiling face. They do not doubt to donate their lives for their motherland.

We have been fortunate as citizens of India who have inherited good patriots which we are proud of. Patriots sacrificed their dreams for the motherland and also gave up their lives.

Patriots go beyond the limits of their character and morals to work for the betterment of their country. Some of the great patriots who made great sacrifices for India include Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Shivaji, Rana Pratap, Rani Laxmi Bai, Sardar Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Lala Lajpat Rai, Maulana Azad etc. These people have sacrificed their lives for the country and have always put their country before themselves. These patriots are respected with deep feelings and will always be remembered as an example for generations to come.

Patriotism mainly means that we should have true love and feelings towards the country and should be passionate to work for its progress. For a patriot, motherland means more than heaven. It is only the sacrifice, dedication and contribution of patriots that make the country develop and prosper. Patriotism is considered a milestone in the step of nation-building. A patriot is never selfish or self-centered but is loyal and understanding.

Patriotism means that we should have love and affection towards our country but it does not mean that we should have any kind of hatred towards any other country. People should be able to support their country but should not have bad feelings for other countries. One should not cast an evil eye on other countries. Every country has many patriots who sacrifice themselves and put their country first. All the great nations that have carved their names in history are witnesses to the services of their patriots.

On behalf of everyone, I would like to inspire all of you to protect, develop and preserve the freedom of the country. People should work for their country. Every country needs to unite people above and above their own interests to build their country. People should be concerned about the progress and prosperity of their country. A true patriot always gets respect, love, and affection from other citizens of the country.

Thank you for being a part of promoting patriotism.

To explain this topic I would like to share my thoughts on patriotism. This is a very important sentiment for the independence of the country. Patriotism refers to the values and devotion towards a country especially with respect to its defense. Patriotism does not mean that there is some debate on India vs Pakistan. It is a quality that is inherited to make your country the best in the world. Many elders believe that the spirit of patriotism in the present youth and the coming generations seems to be diminishing.

Representing the youth of today, I would like to tell all of you that the spirit of patriotism is within us, only the way of displaying it is different.
